At 4 months, Boomer is struggling with gums that hurt and teeth needing to come onto the scene as they push out the baby needle teeth. Chew, chew, chew! A frozen toy with liquid center does the cold and temporary numbing trick; if only for 5 minutes! A long road ahead. Perseverance with a full set of adult teeth at the end of this 'OUCH' road!

Apparently Boomer doesn't know the socks go into the washer and not into his mouth to be laundered! Good thing he was diverted with a chewy bone. However, not before socks were everywhere from his grab and run routine!
I needed a spa day since my coat was becoming long and unmanageable! Nails and face all trimmed; bath and a total body clip simply wore me out!
Bichon Frise means curly lapdog. Boomer the Bichon is more excited to retrieve than he is to be a lap dog! He chases any and all toys/balls that are thrown and promptly returns them to me! Great fun and exercise for him! I, on the other hand, don't get any exercise other than with my throwing arm!
Unfortunately, I can't get a properly rotated iPhone video format supported on this post. Go to the Darby Books Facebook page to see Boomer in action. Gaining weight and size this past week, Boomer no longer fits nicely in our cupped hands. He is 5lb and growing! He is more than a handful on training as well! I've learned discipline is not a mean thing. Boomer and I are beginning to stake our claim to our territories and I am claiming owner/alpha dog. Well, it is a work in progress. At 3 month and 5 days he is responding well to some voice commands. But typical of the breed; when he is in his 'blitz' mode it is difficult to get his attention. Like me when I am in my mode! Here is Boomer as I type ... dozing from an early potty call and playtime. Too bad I don't get to nap right now. I am off to a book signing!
Boomer's first spa day - puppy cut! Boomer's Groomer is Adrienne's Pet Salon - great job! Now we can see his eyes!
We lost Boomer II after 17 years, in March 2016. We knew we were certain we were not up for another puppy. That was before we realized how quiet our home was. And how we missed the companionship of unconditional love and wet kisses. Well, we could certainly share those attributes but neither one of us would play catch. So the decision was made to begin with a puppy. Boomer III joined us in late August. Meet Boomer III - or Boom to us. It is quicker to call out BOOM when he is attacking my ankles! And so it goes with a puppy . . . potty calls every hour and small accidents. And our schedule now revolves around a 'puppy schedule'. However, wet kisses and cuddle time are super. See you next time for Baby Boomer adventures. Oh, shamelessly using him to sell the 2 Boomer books available on this site :-) January - Yorkshire Elementary - York PAJanuary 30th was a great day at Yorkshire Elementary School. Four sessions reading A Sniff in the Park and Mr. Sniff-A-Lot to Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades. The students were very well behaved and they asked very good questions! I love reading to the students about Boomer the sniffing dog! I hope the students continue to write their stories.
Great day at Yorkshire Elementary School reading to the Kindergarten classes.
